Energy recovery, according to circular economy and sustainable principles, has established itself as an inevitable field of action in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). costs are forcing the optimization processes increases development applicable waste-to-energy (WtE) technologies. This study aims analyze existing knowledge on WtE research municipal WWTPs using a systematic literature review bibliometric analysis from 1979 2021. For this purpose, Science Mapping Analysis Tool (SciMAT) VosViewer, two softwares for analyzing performance indicators visualizing scientific maps, were used identify most relevant figures research.
